"At War: Bigger's Id, Ego, and Superego Compete"

In the beggining quote Biggers Ego is dominant. He is trying to get Mrs.Dalton off his case about where her daughter is. He is being super careful about what he says to her because Mrs.Dalton is a wise woman and had a feeling Bigger had something to do with it. His Ego makes him act this way in order to keep his conscience undercontrol. As the second quote moved into place his ID was starting to take over. He started to think why he didnt plan it out better than he had. "Next time things would be much different; he would plan and arrange so that he would have money enough to keep him a long time." (p. 123). His ID was high at this point, he was already planning on doing something bad again, not giving two shits about what happend with the Marry Dalton incident. Bigger has no Super Ego! He only wants to get more to live off of. If he did it would be one sided only to favor the bad side.

My reactions to Biggers murder.

When Bigger had killed Mary Dalton on accident I told myself that he could have have shut her up without smothering her with that pillow. I was generally shocked that he didnt think of anything else but that. Right before he put her into furnace he cut her head off, wich was something I didnt think he was capable of doing that at all givin that he hasnt killed anyone before.
